Capital appreciation refers to the increase in the value of an asset or investment over time. It is commonly associated with financial assets such as stocks, real estate, bonds, and other types of investments. When the market value of an asset rises, the investor experiences a gain, known as capital appreciation. This gain is realized when the asset is sold for more than its original purchase price. However, until the asset is sold, the appreciation remains “unrealized.”
